Here at Colorado Ski Country USA, we know our audience and we bet it won’t take much to tempt you away from the heat and towards the mountains this Independence Day weekend. Colorado ski areas and the towns near them are pulling out all the stops to make this July 4 weekend one to remember, with concerts, parades, ski jumping (yes you read this correctly), fireworks, a ton of activities for the little ones, and more.
Here’s what’s in store for the 4th in and around Colorado Ski Country USA member resorts.
Aspen Snowmass
Old-fashioned 4th of July Celebration
July 4
From races to parades, to bbq’s and carnival activities, come celebrate Independence Day in Aspen with friends and family! The day will kick off with the 30th Annual Buddy Race, with carnivals, parades, concerts, picnics and, of course, fireworks to cap off the day. Copper
Independence Day Celebration Weekend
July 1-4
Celebrate America at Copper Mountain over the long holiday weekend with live music and activities. Grab the family to participate in the Family Adventure Challenge presented by the Kids Adventure Games™, then stick around for free live music from Three Dog Night. Complete the weekend with the Fabulous 4th of July Celebration in Frisco, including a fireworks spectacular over Lake Dillon.
Crested Butte
4th of July Celebration on the Mountain
The 4th of July in Crested Butte features all-day events in town and on the mountain. In the evening, guests can avoid the crowds in town and head up to the mountain a little early with the kids and have some great family time. The Adventure Park will be open for extended hours until 7:00 pm. There will be a BBQ Chicken dinner at 6 pm on the grass, then live music from Jakarta and a complimentary photobooth at 7:30 p.m. After all this fun there will be Fireworks (sponsored by the Town of Mt. Crested Butte) at 9:30 p.m. The peak of Mt. Crested Butte will be lit and it’s sure to be a memorable occasion.

Monarch
4th of July Celebration
July 4 – 12:00 PM
If you’re in central Colorado for the holiday weekend, check out the 4th of July Parade at 4:00 p.m. in historic downtown Salida, the closest town to Monarch Mountain. The day also features festivities and fun for both kids and adults in Riverside Park, and Fireworks at dusk from the “S” Mountain. See www.salidachamber.org for more information.
Powderhorn
Downhill Mountain Biking Kick-off Party
Saturday, July 2, 2016 – 10:00am to Monday, July 4, 2016 – 5:00pm
Join Powderhorn in celebrating the beginning of the summer season and the inaugural year of lift-accessed downhill mountain biking. Featuring live music onSaturday, July 2, the kick-off party will include free camping, mountain biking, and food and drinks. Pan fires and small animals will be allowed in the parking area only for campers.
Purgatory
Fireworks Celebration with Convenient Shuttle to Silverton
July 4
Join Purgatory for a great day of festivities, with live music and all of their fun summertime activities. Spend the evening in Silverton to watch the incredible fireworks celebration and catch a ride on Purgatory’s shuttle so you don’t have to drive. Feel free to bring a cooler, camping chair, and anything else you want. Reservations are strongly suggested, as seating is limited. Call 970-426-7282.
Steamboat
July 4th Celebration
July 1 – July 4
For over 100 years Steamboat Springs has celebrated Independence Day in real Colorado fashion. Where else can you find a celebration that includes three days of ski jumping? The Jumpin’ and Jammin’ Competition on July 4th gives a nod to Steamboat’s Olympic heritage, and events like the Pioneer Days Block Party, featuring a free concert and Root Beer Floats for the kids, and the Ranch Rodeo where local ranches compete against one another, are proof Steamboat’s western roots are alive and well.
This is a special holiday and Steamboat does it right with a hometown parade which ends in a big dance party in the street. Don’t miss the pancake breakfast, take a float down the Yampa River to cool off, and head over to one of the biggest nights of the summer Pro Rodeo Series. After the rodeo, keep your seat and watch the sky fill up with the beautiful colors of one of the biggest firework shows in Colorado.

Sunlight
Solstice Soiree Disc Golf Tournament, July 2-3
More than 100 of Colorado’s Disc Golf Players in a weekend long tournament sanctioned by the Colorado Disc Sports Association on Sunlight’s 18-hole disc golf mountain course. There are both men’s and women’s pro and amateur divisions. Other fun events include a Putting Competition, Mini Disc Golf for kids, a nighttime glow round. Wild West Fermentation Fest, Downtown Glenwood Springs, July 1-3
Wild West Fermentation Fest, downtown Glenwood Springs. The state’s top craft breweries, distilleries, and cider producers with local food vendors and musicians. The action happens at 9th & Cooper St., directly across from Sunlight Mountain’s Ski and Bike Shop. All Wild West Fermentation Fest wristbands receive 20% off all non-sale items at Sunlight Ski & Bike.
Telluride
4th of July Celebration
For over a hundred years, the people of Telluride have come together on Independence Day to celebrate patriotism and the independent spirit of this stunning mountain town. Come join the Town of Telluride in our Fourth of July Celebration! The much loved 4th of July Parade begins at 11 a.m. on Main Street (Colorado Avenue). To register to participate in the parade, pick-up a packet at the base of the Gondola in Telluride (Oak Street Plaza). After the parade, make your way down to Telluride Town Park to enjoy the day’s events hosted by the Telluride Volunteer Fire Department including a large BBQ picnic, an array of kids’ games and activities, and one of the largest firework displays in the state of Colorado!
Winter Park
Lance Gutersohn’s 4th of July celebration
Join the Town of Winter Park for an evening of free family fun with a magic show, face painters, live country music by Buckstein, and fireworks at dark to celebrate Independence Day on July 4, 2016 in Hideaway Park, downtown Winter Park. Stop by a restaurant to pick up dinner to bring to the park.
