Hosted by O.C. Water Ski Club in Orlando on May 28 and 29, Skierpalooza began as a one-time-only occasion and ended as a first-annual kind of thing. Radar Skis organized the event, which consisted of two weekend demo days and a Saturday evening benefit to raise money for the Prevent Cancer Foundation.
Radar’s Chris Sullivan attributes Skierpalooza’s success to the great communal vibe created when skiers get together, as well as support from Performance Ski & Surf, which provided Strada skis to demo. “We had every ski ride booked up on Saturday and Sunday, so people got to have fun on the water and try new skis,” Sullivan says. “And the icing on the cake is that we’re able to donate over $ 5,000 for cancer research.”
WATERSKI photographer Bill Doster donated prints of some of his most compelling shots, which guests were invited to purchase — with the full proceeds going to the Prevent Cancer Foundation. Feeling like you missed out? Don’t worry — it’s on for next year!
